LESCO Security Deposit and Connection Charges

New Service Connection Charges

After sanction of a new connection, a demand notice for security deposit and other connection charges is issued according to the rates approved by NEPRA and the applicable consumer eligibility regulations.

A period of one month is generally allowed for payment of the demand notice across categories of connections.

Security Deposit

Security deposit is generally non-transferable except in limited cases such as:

  • Relocation of premises within LESCO's service territory where a new connection is requested.
  • Change of name where the previous owner consents to transfer of security deposit to the new owner.
  • Transfer through succession according to the succession certificate issued by a competent court.

In case of tariff change, extension or reduction of load, shifting of site, or change of name, the security amount is updated according to prevailing rates.

For calculating security deposit, fractions of a kilowatt above one kilowatt are rounded according to the applicable rule, with half a kilowatt or more treated as one kilowatt.

When Security Deposit May Change

  • New service connection approval.
  • Extension or reduction of sanctioned load.
  • Tariff change or change of name where deposit reassessment applies.
  • Reconnection cases where earlier deposit was adjusted against arrears.

Refund of Security Deposit

The security amount deposited by the consumer at the time of getting a connection may be refunded at the time of permanent disconnection after approval from the competent authority, provided no outstanding amount remains against the consumer.

The security deposit may also be adjusted in the final bill if the consumer requests it.

Records to Keep

  • Original demand notice and payment proof.
  • Any change-of-name, load-change, or tariff-change approval.
  • Final bill or permanent disconnection documents if applying for refund or adjustment.
