Relocation of Service Connection
Due to Public Works
If LESCO must move distribution facilities because of public improvement work such as street widening, excavation, or other reasons beyond its control, the shifting or relocation cost is borne by the sponsoring agency rather than the affected consumer.
On Consumer's Request
If a consumer requires relocation of an overhead or underground service connection for convenience, construction, or access reasons, LESCO may relocate the service connection at the consumer's expense.
Repair or Replacement of General Supply Service Wire
Routine repair or replacement of service wires feeding the consumer premises up to the metering point is the responsibility of LESCO.
Temporary Connection
A temporary electric power supply connection may be provided by LESCO subject to load availability and prevailing rules where supply is required for a specific period not exceeding three months. This may be extended on a three-month basis up to 12 months by the competent authority, subject to clearance of dues.
Temporary Connection Snapshot
- Temporary supply is intended for a specific limited purpose and period.
- Extensions should be requested before the approved period expires.
- Security and system cost may be required before energizing the connection.
- Use beyond the approved purpose can lead to discontinuation.
Purposes for Temporary Connection
- Illumination and lighting for weddings, festivals, functions, exhibitions, or ceremonies.
- Construction of buildings.
- Testing of industrial equipment.
- Other emergent temporary requirements.
Procedure for Application
- The applicant should apply to the competent load sanctioning authority according to the relevant category.
- The application should include local authority authorization or NOC where applicable, along with supporting documents.
- The sanctioning authority processes the request under the applicable eligibility criteria regulations.
- A demand notice may be issued for dedicated distribution system cost and security covering expected consumption for the approved period.
- After payment and completion of requirements, LESCO provides the temporary connection as per applicable priority.
Relocation Request Notes
- Relocation for public works is treated differently from relocation requested for consumer convenience.
- Consumer-requested shifting may require payment of shifting or material charges.
- Applicants should keep written approval, payment receipts, and site-inspection communication together.
Additional Guidelines
- LESCO may disconnect the supply after the approved period unless an extension is granted.
- The consumer should apply for extension at least one week before expiry and deposit security for the expected extension-period consumption.
- LESCO may discontinue service without notice if the connection is no longer temporary or is used for unauthorized purposes.
- After expiry, equipment cost may be reimbursed at depreciated rates where LESCO dismantles or takes over the equipment under the applicable policy.
